Objective

The Utility folio was developed for investors seeking current income and moderate capital appreciation with lower volatility.

Strategy

The Utility 5 folio consists of the 5 largest companies primarily engaged in the utility industry. Companies engaged in the utilities industry include those involved in the production, transmission, or distribution of electricity, gas, telecommunications, and other related utility goods and services.

Utility companies are considered defensive since earnings have historically remained relatively stable during both economic upturns and downturns. Utility companies can provide a hedge during periods of substantial volatility.

Steps to Create This Folio

  1. We selected companies with primary business operations in the Utility sector, excluding telephone utilities, as defined by Zacks Investment Research.
  2. We ranked the companies according to their market capitalizations and selected the top 5 stocks.
  3. We equally weighted the securities in the folio

Number of Securities

There are generally 5 securities in the folio.

Update Frequency

Quarterly.

If the characteristics of the Folio have changed substantially, the securities included may change. Also, corporate actions, such as a merger, or other events may cause changes to the securities held at any time. Your returns may deviate significantly from the values displayed here, due to many factors, including how long after a folio has been updated that you place orders to update your holdings. RTGs are updated using market data from multiple sources including Zacks Investment Research ( www.zacks.com ), International Data Corporation (IDC) ( www.idc.com ), and other suppliers.
