RTGs:
Dohmen GlobalConservative
Objective
This folio is designed for investors who are conservative and seek diversification in the global markets. It invests in U.S. and international global equity and fixed income ETFs. The HedgeFolio does not use inverse ETFs containing equities to hedge during stock market declines, plunges, crashes, or bear markets. Instead, it seeks protection during adverse times by having higher cash positions and/or investing in high-grade fixed income ETFs, which have historically been a safe haven during stock market declines.

Strategy
The Dohmen Global Conservative folio invests in U.S. and international large- and mid-cap equity ETFs, dividend producing equity ETFs, and fixed income ETFs when appropriate according to Dohmen’s analysis. The analysis focuses on credit markets which show stress or lack of stress, thus giving signals as to potential, important trend changes. This is combined with advanced technical analysis of the markets and sectors, using money flow analysis and other technical indicators.
Dohmen does not take the “buy and hold forever” approach. Dohmen believes that market timing is essential to avoid big losses. The strategy is to use market timing of the major market indices, with emphasis on advanced technical analysis. This folio is aimed to be more conservative and does not hedge by investing in inverse ETFs. During times of adversity and potential equity market vulnerability, Dohmen may hedge by investing in U.S. and international high-grade fixed income ETFs, as well as increasing the cash allocation. The percentage allocation between equity and fixed income will vary from 100% equity with 0% fixed income, to 0% equity with 100% fixed income depending on Dohmen’s analysis and technical indicators. The latter allocation would be during a potential market plunge or crisis.
To further reduce risk in the equity portion, Dohmen aims to use global equal-weighted equity ETFs when available. These give an equal weight to each stock in the index. Dohmen considers this weighting more conservative than the typical capitalization-weighted indices, where a strong drop in just 1 large-cap stock can cause a sharp decline in the ETF. By giving an equal weight to each stock, such volatility can be smoothed out.
This folio is not tax managed and as a result foreign tax withholding may apply to some distributions received from securities used in this strategy.
